The Standing Stones at Monteneuf were put in place around 5000 years ago although the site was not registered as an archaeological monument until 1997.
After eight years of excavations looking at the foundation holes at the base of the fallen Menhirs, the stones were put back in their original positions.
After 500 years of neglect new alignments are waiting to be discovered all over the area of Morbihan.

The main difference between the standing ring stones in the UK and the standing stones in France appears to be in geometry. In the UK rings and ovals were favoured by the Neolithic builders, whereas in France the stones appear across the landscape in straight lines. This geometry has relevance when thinking about the builders of these alignments because they must have had a concept of maths. When you have a concept of geometry you must also have a concept of an inner world and this is a key to open up some understanding of what they were building them for .
This is a sketch of a crop circle where the shapes have been simplified to a geometric pattern. The pattern could be recreated at scale using simple tools and just the knowledge of how to make a right angle. The rings and circles found throughout the west side of the UK are a lot more complicated than this but the process was probably very similar.

In France the alignments are just as complicated but they were based on geometry using squares as the base. Although circles and ovals were used, squares have more influence in the geometry in the Brittany alignments and perhaps the extraordinary length of some of these lines..
This is a diagram of a rare quadrilateral stone enclosure at Crucono it is based around 6 squares, If you like patterns you will find this makes two 3,4,5 triangles.

Above is a video panorama of the scene used to create the Roundscape of des Pierres Droites Alignments Brittany. It was taken by where I considered a natural centre of the construction this was based on the natural wear of footfall and density of stones surrounding the camera.

Round Scapes are framed original digital photographs of landscapes.
Photographing panoramic landscapes allows me to manipulate these images
into stereographic projections sometimes known as globes or little planets. The view you end up with is a 360 degree landscape manipulated into a globe.
