Roundscape projection 360 degrees of "The eye of the lake" l'étang de Quéhon

Traditionally, lakes symbolize a peaceful, contemplative life where one goes to escape from the reality of the world. Many holiday resorts are built around lakes and romance genre novels often use lake settings.
But water always alludes to the connection between the superficial and the profound. A lake symbolizes a fluid transparent movement, its reflective qualities masking the depths beneath it. With lakes, the enormousness of the seas and oceans are made specific and visable.
For me they represent stillness, perhaps the transition between life and death. Lakes can be symbols of the unknown, a place of calm or a place of fear. A great big unconscious eye

Above is a video panorama of the scene used to create the The eye of the lake. It was taken after being lost on a walk in Brittany. I was relieved to find something that I recognized after walking through a forest for hours with no maps and no previous knowledge of the area.

Round Scapes are framed original digital photographs of landscapes. Photographing panoramic landscapes allows me to manipulate these images into stereographic projections sometimes known as globes or little planets. The view you end up with is a 360 degree landscape manipulated into a globe.
